Due to the high temperature demand of orchids, we have to heat the greenhouse in winter and summer, which would result in high overhead costs throughout the year. We managed to reduce this to almost zero by taking advantage of the facilities provided by the operating system. The continuous heat supply of the 2000m2 greenhouse is guaranteed by the biogas plant, as we heat the horticulture with the waste heat generated during the operation of the gas engines operating there, easily maintaining the desired temperature of 28 ° C even at minus 20 ° C. In order to avoid having to supplement the required heat demand with fossil fuels at the site in addition to the waste heat, we operate a wood chip boiler instead of a gas-fired solution in the ethanol plant, using wood by-products and self-grown energy willows as raw materials. With this system, we guarantee that we do not have to use fossil fuels on our site and remain “green”.
